Big Friendship

Best friends and podcasters Ann Friedman and Aminatou Sow coined the term Big Friendship in their book by the same name. A Big Friendship is “a strong, significant bond that transcends life phases, geographical locations, and emotional shifts.”

At the heart of Georgiana & Kitty is the story of a “Big Friendship” built over many years of trust and trials.

Events of Georgiana and Kitty’s Friendship

  • Georgiana and Kitty do not meet in Pride & Prejudice as they are never in the same place at the same time.
  • The girls meet soon after the events of the novel as the last chapter references “Kitty, to her very material advantage, spent the chief of her time with her two elder sisters [Jane and Elizabeth].”
  • Having spent so much time at Pemberley in the time between Pride & Prejudice and the Christmas at Pemberley plays, Georgiana and Kitty would have become fast friends, especially without the influence of Lydia, who it is said visited less frequently: “Lydia was occasionally a visitor there, when her husband was gone to enjoy himself in London or Bath…”
  • In the events of Georgiana & Kitty, we see their friendship grow over many years only to be tested -and proven as resilient as we all had hoped:

KITTY: I love your noise.

GEORGIANA: And I love that you needn’t make a sound and still are the most inspired and caring person I have ever known.
