Learning the Fundamentals

Grades K-12

In this residency program, students explore the fundamentals of acting through a curriculum that emphasizes collaboration and play. Students will adapt and perform a familiar narrative into a new story. This before- , during-, or after- school program can be custom-designed to meet each school's needs.

Theatre for Social Change

Grades 6-12

This theatre for social change residency asks students to address issues impacting their community, bringing current events into the classroom and fostering social responsibility. Through the process of creating an original performance addressing topical issues, students use their voices to engage their peers in building positive change in their community.

Experiencing Live Theatre

Grades 6-12

Students attend matinees of mainstage productions at little cost supplemented with workshops, study guides, and post-show discussions. To enhance the matinee experience, the (optional) pre-show Artist Engagement workshop connects students directly to the artists involved in the production.

Master Class

Exploring Advanced Topics

Grades K–12

This residency is designed to integrate core curriculum with advanced theatre arts topics. A Northlight Teaching Artist comes to the classroom for a more in-depth experience with topics such as stage combat, playwriting, musical theatre, improv, theatre design and more. Programs can be designed to run one to three class sessions.

Summer Camp

Professional Training, Summer Traditions

Grades 2-9

Northlight's summer camp programs combine professional theatre training with timeless summer camp traditions. Campers may opt for one-week, two-week, or four-week sessions – or combine all three for a full summer of theatre. Campers take acting and backstage classes, study skills in voice and movement, and experience field trips and guest artists.
