Fifth Ward: Soul and Smoke

Soul & Smoke is quickly growing into Chicago’s favorite BBQ powerhouse and hidden soul food gem. Through it all, they’ve been obsessed with delivering the boldest, highest-quality barbecue, comfort, and soul food to the people in their community.
We’re also partnering with Connections for the Homeless, an Evanston-based charity that provides support to people who are experiencing homelessness or struggling to keep their housing. Visit their website to learn more and make a donation today!
This event will also offer attendees an EXCLUSIVE PREVIEW of our 2026-27 season, the first season taking place in our brand new theatre in downtown Evanston!

First Ward: The Homestead room at the graduate

Whether you’re grabbing a bite after a Northwestern campus visit, meeting friends for dinner,
or looking for a cozy corner by a fireplace to unwind, the Graduate Homestead Room serves
something for everyone. Offering a menu that blends comforting classics with global influences,
it’s a place where familiar flavors meet creative twists.
We’re also partnering with the Evanston Animal Shelter! They give companion animals the best chance at the life they deserve through rehabilitation, foster care, adoption, and community support that keeps pets with the people who love them.
Second Ward: Studio 5

Studio5 is an intimate performing arts venue bringing dance, music, theater and film to Chicago’s North Shore. Boasting excellent sight lines, extraordinary sound, and comfortable seating, Studio5 offers a welcoming space to enjoy the performing arts in a cozy setting. There truly is not a bad seat in the house. Celebrate Northlight’s 50th Anniversary Season with cake from Bennison’s and ice cream from C&W Market
Plus, we’re partnering with the YWCA of Evanston/North Shore for this event! The YWCA works to eliminate racism, empower women, stand up for social justice, and strengthen local communities.

Third ward: firehouse grill
January 22 @ 6:00 PM | 750 Chicago Ave. Evanston, IL
Located in a beautifully restored historic firehouse, Firehouse Grill been a neighborhood favorite in Evanston for decades. They’re all about great food, cold drinks, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere where friends, families, and coworkers gather.
We’re also supporting ESCCA (Evanston School Children’s Clothing Association)! Bring a warm coat, hat, scarf and/or mittens to the event and we’ll donate them to ESCCA to help keep kids warm this winter. They’re most in need of children’s clothes size 6-8. Check out their wishlist here!

Give back with Northlight on Giving Tuesday! Bring a canned good or other non-perishable food item to the event to make a donation to the Hillside Food Pantry.
Seventh ward: Ten Mile House

A social hub for the thriving Evanston community, Ten Mile House serves thoughtful comfort food and beverages in a vibrant, welcoming setting. Located in the heart of Evanston’s Central Street district, just steps from Northwestern University’s Ryan Field and Welsh-Ryan Arena, Ten Mile House serves an extensive menu featuring wood fired pizza, smoked meats and a diverse selection of comfort food classics and healthy fare.
We’re also supporting Books & Breakfast, a before-school program offering a nutritious breakfast and homework assistance to Evanston students in need of additional support.
