It’s Thanksgiving 1973, and life in the USA is lonely for recent Asian immigrants Jane and Luna. Over sips of wine and a questionable frozen turkey, their new friendship quickly blossoms into laughter and shared American dreams. This funny and moving play gives a big-hearted voice to the Asian immigrant experience.

Meet the Director of THE HEART SELLERS, Helen Young!
Northlight Theatre debut. Selected credits: What the Constitution Means to Me, Black Sunday, The Chinese Lady, Building a Bridge Toward Asian Visibility (online event with Stephanie Hsu) – Timeline Theatre; The Great Leap – Farmers Alley Theatre; American Hwangap – ASquared; Tiny Dynamite – Halcyon/ASquared; Tea – Prologue Theatre; Wild Boar, New China Festival – Silk Road. Other directing credits include work with: Rivendell, LifeLine, Goodman, Strawdog, Steppenwolf, Depaul, Remy Bumppo, Chicago Dramatists, Artemisia, Artistic Home, Token, Miranda Theatre’s Liz Smith Reading Series at the Cherry Lane. Young is a company member at Timeline Theatre Company. Young is also a SAG/AFTRA actor represented by Grossman Jack Talent. Film/TV credits: Chicago Med, PD, Justice; Stranger Than Fiction, The Prize (Producer).
Rehearsals are in full swing for THE HEART SELLERS, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to bring this heartfelt and hilarious story to life!
This “laugh-aloud love letter to friendship” (Broadwayworld.com) explores friendship, identity, and the immigrant experience with warmth and humor.
As we see the characters take shape in the rehearsal room, we can’t wait to share this journey with you.
This holiday season, Northlight staff collected coats and winter clothing for RCC (Refugee Community Connection), a Chicago area volunteer powered organization welcoming families from around the world, and food items for the Greater Chicago Food Depository. Staff contributed a total of 250 food items and 145 apparel items!
We love being able to give back to these amazing organizations in our community!
