At Thanksgiving, my favorite tradition is…
Janet Mullet: …cooking with John while watching football then eating a stupendous meal complete with wine pairings with our friends (it’s a full day).
Lynn Baber: …watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, or more specifically, the Broadway shows that do numbers in it.
BJ Jones: …Football! Putting up lights weather permitting.
Kim Hoopingarner: …our neighborhood flag football game complete with donuts and Bloody Marys
Andria Venezia: …volunteering and serving a group of elders in Chicago a Thanksgiving meal.
Shelly Blendermann: …a full day with my extended family, starting with an early morning football game, followed by eating, sharing, laughing, making memories and eating.
The day after Thanksgiving you can find me…
Mara Mihlfried: …At my mom’s house, decorating her Christmas tree. It’s a little early for my taste, but we started doing it then when my sister and I were in college (since we’d both be home for the holiday), and the tradition stuck.
Amanda Acevedo: …snuggling on the couch with my husband Chris and our cat Abbies.
Mara Stern: …at Friendsgiving! Bring on more carbs!
Lauren Shouse: …watching LOVE ACTUALLY with my family.
Shelly Blendermann: … pulling out the Christmas decorations.
Lisa Stern: …under a blanket on the couch with my dog, my knitting and a good movie.
If I get the bigger wishbone my wish will be…
Lynn Baber: …well, I’ll always wish for success and happiness for my precious children (what play is quoted here?) But we don’t always have a whole turkey. For the past couple of years, I just got a turkey breast from Boston Market.
BJ Jones: …that we live through the next four years in peace.
Lauren Shouse: …for more tolerance, love and empathy in this world.
Lisa Stern: …a windfall of cash to buy myself a horse of my own.
I can’t wait to stuff my face with…
Janet Mullet: …pumpkin pie and whipped cream.
Lynn Baber: …those mashed potatoes from Foodstuffs. They’re not regular, they’re some other kind. Very delicious. Oh! Let’s just go with dessert. Whatever the dessert is. There is usually a selection.
Mara Mihlfried: …stuffing! What better to stuff one’s face with?
Amanda Acevedo: …my mother’s smashed potato recipe.
Lauren Shouse: … my mom’s stuffing and potato rolls (and turkey of course).
Shelly Blendermann:… my aunt’s turkey gravy and my uncles’ special recipes that ONLY get made/shared on Thanksgiving.
If I could pardon something other than a turkey, it would be…
Janet Mullet: …the goat!!
Lynn Baber: …I guess I’ll pardon my children for not cleaning their rooms. Like ever.
BJ Jones: …Bears Management.
Mara Stern: …My cat when he eats half the food off of the table.
Lauren Shouse: …my cats for destroying our couch.
This year I’m most thankful for…
Janet Mullet: …my families, always, the one I was born into and the ones I’m lucky enough to have found.
Lynn Baber: …the love and support of husband, daughters, fabulous friends, colleagues, the blue sky cherubs (they know who they are).
Tim Evans: …my Northlight family and the gift of theater that we all get to wrap ourselves in.
Amanda Acevedo: …the people I know that fight for change, equality, and justice in big and small ways.
Mara Stern: …those who look for love in the hard to find places.
Lauren Shouse: …my life with my wife.
Shelly Blenderman: …the health of my family and the successful settlement into our beautiful new-to-us home.
Lisa Stern: …the privileges I enjoy and the awareness to fight for those privileges for everyone.
