50 Years of Music

Join us for a Celebration of our 50th Anniversary and Northlight's Next Act

Northlight is approaching its 50th Anniversary Season, and soon after, its new home in Evanston! We’re celebrating with a retrospective of 50 years of memorable music at Northlight – featuring songs from some of your favorite productions, performed by some of your favorite artists.

Enjoy tunes from Chicago and Northlight stars E. Faye Butler, Heidi Kettenring, Rob Lindley, Alexis J. Rolston, Stephen Schellhardt, and Bri Sudia, from shows like Ella, Grey Gardens, Dinah Was, Marie and Rosetta, The Last Five Years, Songs for Nobodies… and more!

The evening kicks off with a reception that includes beer, wine, signature cocktail, and selection of savory appetizers and delicious desserts in the new lobby/reception area at Space. You’ll also hear the latest progress on Northlight’s Next Act: our new theatre in downtown Evanston  – now under construction!

About the program:

Northlight’s first season was in 1975-76, and musicals or plays with music have been an important and beloved part of Northlight’s production history since close to the beginning – starting with Oh, Coward! in 1978! We’ve brought audiences tastes of folk, blues, jazz, country, classical, and rock ‘n roll, in addition to traditional musical theatre. And Northlight locked in their place in musical theatre history with the world premiere of The Last Five Five Years in 2001 – since produced countless times around the world, adapted into a major motion picture, and currently enjoying a revival on Broadway starring Nick Jonas!

So get ready to tap your toes, clap your hands, and maybe even shed a tear, while we revisit some of the intensely entertaining music that has inspired and moved Northlight audiences for the last five decades.
