We at Northlight are eager for a New Year and new possibilities, and eager to be together again. But with the remaining uncertainty about when we can safely host audiences and artists in our theatre, we have made the difficult decision to delay any plans for a full theatre season until September 2021.

If you have already renewed your subscription for the 2020-21 Season, your existing subscription will be automatically transferred to the 2021-22 Season, beginning in September. Specific details regarding dates and seating will be available closer to re-opening. We are diligently following the best practices advised by public health officials in order to make your return to the theatre as safe as possible.

Though September feels far away, we have two invitations to share this winter:

INTERPLAY READING  Our next virtual Interplay reading will be Sunday, January 31 at 6:30pm. Featuring Chicago favorites Francis Guinan and Rondi Reed, Such Small Hands is a new play by Adam Szymkowicz about love, aging, selfishness, and selflessness. Learn more and sign up to watch.

• CHAT WITH THE DIRECTORS  Artistic Director BJ Jones and Executive Director Tim Evans will host an online Q&A to discuss Northlight’s current activities and upcoming plans. Sessions are available February 17 at 2:00pm or 6:30pm. Sign up here.

Finally, we are pleased to announce that the first two productions of the 2021-22 Season are set!

• We’ll kick off the season in September with Songs for Nobodies by Joanna Murray-Smith. Re-scheduled from last spring, this tour-de-force performance by Bethany Thomas celebrates the iconic work of Judy Garland, Patsy Cline, Billie Holiday, Edith Piaf, and Maria Callas.

• Then we’ll welcome the holidays with the world premiere Mr. Dickens’ Hat by Michael Hollinger. This warm winter’s tale features original Victorian-style music along with a host of colorful characters in a cozy Dickensian setting.

Should you need to contact us, the North Shore Center Box Office is currently open by phone 847.673.6300, Wednesday through Friday, noon to 3:00pm. You can also email at any time: customerservice@northlight.org.

The 2021-22 Season will be performed in our current location at the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts in Skokie. All plays and artists are subject to change
